Our Mission Statement
cbec’s mission is to develop innovative, multi-benefit solutions in water resources engineering that improve the health of the natural environment while also meeting the needs of humanity.
Our Core Values
Our core values are cbec’s enduring principles that we adhere to at both the individual and company level.
Creative, Inquisitive, and Visionary
We seek to truly understand the environments in which we work and to develop solutions for clients that advance the state of science and engineering in our industry and improve the health of ecosystems.
Constant Pursuit of Excellence
At cbec, we continuously pursue excellence in our performance and a caliber of work that surpasses industry standards.
Innovative, Rigorous and Solutions-Oriented
We are passionate about conducting innovative, scientifically-rigorous, and results-driven projects.
A Collaborative Environment
We foster a culture of inclusion that encourages a sense of belonging, and maintain a collaborative knowledge sharing environment within our company, and between the clients and teaming partners that we serve.
Integrity
We conduct ourselves with honesty, integrity, and respect for others.
Our Commitment to Equity
At cbec we strive to co-create an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative culture where our team can bring their authentic selves to work. We conduct our work with a supportive, humble, and welcoming tone intended to foster a sense of engagement and belonging. Honesty, integrity, and respect for others are core operational values. Through this collaborative approach we develop innovative multi-benefit projects intended to improve ecosystem function, while also considering diverse human needs and social engagement. We endeavor to extend this culture beyond our staff to the clients, project teams, and partners that we serve.
We are committed to the individual growth and awareness required to better understand social inequities that may be present in the communities and programs we support. We recognize that the conservation movement merits systemic changes to increase equitable processes and outcomes from our industry’s work, particularly for underserved and marginalized peoples.
cbec’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative has facilitated a thoughtful examination of operational practices and provided our team with inclusive leadership and workplace training to improve our understanding of how slow thinking, self-examination, and intentional connection among team members breaks down biases. The DEI Initiative prioritizes actions to continually advance our internal culture, undertakes annual pulse surveys to solicit feedback on cultural competency, updates outreach materials to reflect our commitment to these activities, and facilitates space for conversations with a growth mindset.
