Lower American River – Temperature Refugia, Temperature Monitoring, and On-Call Support

cbec has provided temperature and stage monitoring on the Lower American River (LAR) since 2008.

In continued support of this effort, cbec was contracted by the Water Forum to continue the temperature monitoring effort through 2017. In addition to the ongoing monitoring through the whole 23 miles of the LAR, cbec also performed temperature mapping of key locations on the river to determine if there were any locations of  thermal refuge for key fish species in the river. Spatial temperature mapping was performed at three locations and at two different flow rates.

The project included on-call support to concurrent LAR projects that cbec was involved with. Specifically, aerial drone mapping was performed at the Cordova Creek project throughout the construction process. Additionally, a flight was performed at the Sacramento Bar gravel augmentation site before the start of construction.
