Wetland Design in the Patoka Valley
- Construction of a water control structure.
- Design plans for the north shallow water pond.
- Trickle flow swale between the north and south wetlands during construction.
cbec prepared final designs for wetland creation and enhancement on two 40-acre parcels of land in Pike County owned by Patoka Valley Conservation Partners (PVCP).
This project was ultimately enrolled in the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). It serves as one of the largest of such projects in the region. This wetland project is located adjacent to the Patoka National Wildlife Refuge, which allowed for a unique opportunity to enhance the overall ecosystem within the greater wildlife area. cbec played a central role in the development of final designs for this project, including facilitating coordination between the landowner and the local NRCS staff, watershed scale geomorphic reconnaissance, project site survey, hydrologic calculations, wetland design, as well as construction oversight / inspection.
