An excellent montage of the Lower Sailor Bar project completed in September 2022. It is part of the Lower American River Salmonid Habitat Improvement Program (SHIP), led by the Water Forum, and has been enhancing habitat used by fall run Chinook salmon and Central Valley Steelhead since 2008. Site activities consisted of gravel replenishment and enlargement of three existing spawning riffles, lowering the inlet of the Upper Sunrise Side Channel to restore perennial inundation, and construction of a new half mile side channel to enhance juvenile salmonid rearing opportunities.
