Jade Hinson MS, EIT
Ecohydrologist I
As an ecohydrologist, Jade performs a combination of fieldwork and technical analysis at cbec. She is an Engineer in Training (EIT), and holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from UC Davis, where she focused on geotechnical and water resources engineering. During her undergraduate education, she gained experience in geotechnical field exploration on levees in Sacramento, performed soil testing utilizing ASTM standards, and worked with the California Department of Water Resources’ Safety of Dams division. Post-graduation, she joined a research team at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and conducted hydrologic and water quality studies on the impact of the Caldor wildfire in California’s Cosumnes River watershed. This experience deepened her passion for, and understanding of, hydrologic systems, and sparked her return to her alma matter. Specializing in ecological restoration in aquatic environments, she earned a Master of Civil and Environmental Engineering, focusing on physical limnology and aeration systems. During her graduate studies, she gained experience in performing and processing multi-beam bathymetric sonar surveys, utilizing vessel-mounted and moored Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), conducting water quality sampling in lakes and rivers, and operating various research vessels. Her software experience includes proficiency in ArcGIS and QGIS, as well as R and MATLAB for data analysis. In her free time, Jade loves being outdoors, spending her days playing in the water, exploring forests, and wandering on foot or by bicycle.
