Stephanie Day PhD

Ecohydrologist I

Dr. Stephanie Day brings over 16 years of geological experience in fluvial and anthropogenic geomorphology to cbec. Working from the banks of the Red River of the North, in Fargo, North Dakota, Dr. Day is familiar with the unique environmental characteristics of Midwest agricultural watersheds. At cbec, Stephanie utilizes GIS, 3D modeling, laser scanning, and photogrammetry to examine landscape change, linking environmental effects with temporal changes in hydrology. She earned her Bachelor of Geology from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and Doctorate of Geology from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Day’s collegiate research was highly interdisciplinary and she often solicited input from various technical specialists in archaeology, agriculture, engineering, biology, and computer science in her studies. Stephanie continued her academic interests at the Geoscience program of North Dakota State University, where she served as associate professor, and ultimately department chair. Dr. Day taught courses in geography, GIS, and remote sensing, and mentored and advised geology undergraduates master’s students and PhD candidates through the Environmental and Conservation Sciences program. She enjoys the challenge of balancing the needs of farmers with the needs of the surrounding ecosystem, and is excited to build sustainable ecosystems to foster resilient communities.
